Notes: "EMIGRATION. -- On Wednesday last, June 30th, at 6 p.m., the third company of Saints, this year, sailed from this port for New York on board Guion & Co.'s United States Mail Steamer Idaho, Captain Beddoes. There were 765 passengers -- consisting of 666 Scandinavians, namely, 447 adults; 188 children; 25 infants, and 6 returning missionaries: -- English, 56 adults; 38 children; 4 infants, and 1 returning missionary. The company were all feeling well -- being in the enjoyment of good health and spirits. We anticipate for them a safe and pleasant journey to their mountain home. They have the services of seven very able men in the elders returning to Zion. God bless them! May he control the elements in their favor!DEPARTURE. -- The following missionaries left England on board the S. S. Idaho, June 30th ultimo, all in the enjoyment of good health and good spirits. Six of these brethren have been faithfully laboring in the Scandinavian Mission, and the other in Wales, with much success. They leave us with our best wishes for their welfare: they are men of goodwill -- of temperance -- of peace. We say, May God bless them! Elder C. G. Larsen arrived at Liverpool May 26, 1873, Elders John Frantzen, L. S. Andersen, Neils Anderson, Andrew Jenson, arrived same date. Elder P. C. Geertsen arrived at Liverpool November 12, 1873. They proceeded at once on their way to their appointed field of labor in the Scandinavian Mission, where they have been wisely and energetically preaching the gospel and counseling the Saints up to the time of their departure. Bishop C. G. Larsen presided over the mission, having succeeded Elder Canute Petersen June, 1873. These brethren have been greatly prospered in the ministry. Elder Miles L. Williams arrived at Liverpool June 14, 1874. Was appointed to labor in the Welsh Conference, under the direction of Elder Henry Hughes, whom he succeeded in the presidency of that conference May 3rd. Elder Williams has done well."

". . . On Friday, June 25, 1875, about 3 o'clock a.m., the first company of the season's emigration of Scandinavian Saints (658 souls) sailed from Copenhagen, on two steamers, namely, the 'Pacific' and the 'Cato.' The 'Pacific' took on board 383 Saints from the Christiania, Copenhagen and Skane Conferences, who were placed in charge of Elder Christian G. Larsen, assisted by Elders John Frantzen, Lars S. Andersen and Nils Anderson. The 'Cato' took on board 275 Saints from the Aarhus, Aalborg, Stockholm and Goteborg Conferences, with Elders Peter C. Geertsen and Andrew Jenson in charge. Both ships arrived in Hull on Monday, June 28th. The same day the emigrants were conveyed to Liverpool by rail. Here, together with 98 English Saints and one returning missionary, they went on board the ocean steamer 'Idaho,' commanded by Captain Beddoe, and sailed from Liverpool on Wednesday, June 30th. President Joseph F. Smith appointed Elder Christian G. Larsen, leader of the company, to be assisted by all the other returning missionaries, namely, John Frantzen, Lars S. Andersen, Nils Anderson, Peter C. Geertsen, Andrew Jenson and M. J. Williams. The company was divided into six districts and a president appointed for each of these; Andrew Jenson was appointed captain of the guard. After a successful voyage, the company arrived safely in New York, July 14th. The overland journey by railway was begun on the 15th, and on the 22nd the company arrived, all well, in Ogden and Salt Lake City. A Swedish sister, 73 hears of age, died on the Atlantic Ocean and was buried at sea, and a child, 15 month old, died before arriving in Ogden, July 22nd. A young Norwegian sister who was left in New York on account of sickness came on to Utah later. . . ."
